What is the ruling on someone who finds impurity on their garment after the Farewell Tawaf, and does not know whether the impurity occurred before or after the Tawaf?

Scholars differed regarding the condition of removing impurity for the validity of circumambulation (Tawaf). The majority of scholars stipulated it, while the Hanafis did not.

As for someone who circumambulated and then became aware of impurity after completing the Tawaf, their circumambulation is valid, and nothing is incumbent upon them, whether they were forgetful or ignorant. This is the view of the majority of scholars, who cite the Hadith of Abu Sa'id regarding the Prophet's prayer, peace be upon him, with his impure sandals; he did not repeat the prayer due to his ignorance of the impurity, and this applies to Tawaf.
