What is the ruling on working for a company that relies on pirated computer software and earning a living from that?

Islam encourages lawful earnings. If a company relies on copying copyrighted software without the owners' permission, this is not permissible in Islamic law, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) sayings: "Muslims are bound by their conditions," "The property of a Muslim person is not lawful without his willing consent," and "Whoever precedes others to a permissible thing has a greater right to it." This includes the rights of a non-belligerent disbeliever. However, if the intention is to imitate original industries or record software that is not copyrighted, then there is no objection to that.
