The answer

We do not know of any origin for this phrase. Strangers have been praised in some texts. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Rajhi was asked about the ruling on saying: "Only Satan is a stranger," and he replied: "I do not know of any origin for this. A 'stranger' is one who is solitary, and a man who is solitary is called a stranger; he is not called Satan."
