It is the wife's right to reside in an independent dwelling where she is not exposed to harm, and she is not obliged to live with her husband's mother. There is no sin upon the husband if he disagrees with his mother on this matter, and her prayers against him will not harm him if he has wronged her. However, the husband must honor his mother and treat her kindly, and not abandon her or fall short in her rights if he lives separately.
