How is the estate of a man who died unmarried and left behind his parents, four brothers, and two sisters divided?
If the deceased left only those mentioned, then the mother receives one-sixth due to the presence of a group of siblings, and the remainder goes to the father by ta'seeb (residuary share). The siblings of the deceased, both male and female, are excluded by the father and do not inherit anything. The estate is divided into six shares: the mother receives one share, and the father receives five shares. It is more prudent not to be satisfied with this answer alone and to refer the matter to the courts or scholars, because matters of inheritance are extremely serious and complex. The inheritance cannot be divided until the heirs are accurately determined, as there may be an heir who will only be discovered after investigation, and there may be wills, debts, or other rights.
And Allah knows best.
