What are the Mada'eeq?

"Madaiq al-khayl" (مداعيق الخيل) refers to horses that are at the forefront of a raid. The word is derived from "da'q al-khayl" (دعق الخيل), meaning to push them. So, "da'qa 'alayhim al-khayl" (دعق عليهم الخيل) means to push the horses onto them in a raid, and "da'aqu 'alayhim al-gharah" (دعقوا عليهم الغارة) means they pushed the raid onto them. "Al-khayl al-madaiq" (الخيل المداعيق) are the vanguard horses that trample people during raids.
