What are the verses and hadiths that indicate the stages of the universe's creation?

The Holy Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah speak about the creation and origin of the universe. Allah created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days. The heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, then He clove them asunder, and He built the heaven and expanded it. Allah also created the earth in two days, placed therein its firm mountains, blessed it, and ordained therein its provisions in four days, then He rose over the heaven while it was smoke.

The Ahadith mention that Allah existed before everything, and His Throne was upon water, and He wrote everything in the Preserved Tablet, then He created the heavens and the earth. In another narration, Allah created the dust on Saturday, the mountains on Sunday, the trees on Monday, the disliked things on Tuesday, the light on Wednesday, spread the animals on Thursday, and created Adam on Friday. It is also mentioned that Allah was in 'Ama' (a cloud or mist) with air beneath it and air above it before creation, and His Throne was upon water.
