Why do Muslims pray for forgiveness for what Allah has already raised from them of error, forgetfulness, and what they are compelled to do, based on the Hadith: "Raised from my Ummah are error, forgetfulness, and what they are compelled to do," and His (the Most High) saying: "Our Lord, do not hold us accountable if we forget or err"?

This supplication is an act of worship to Allah because of its firm establishment in the Qur'an. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave glad tidings of its acceptance, as Allah has lightened the burden on the Ummah concerning what they were tasked with, overlooking mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they were forced to do. This is a grace from Allah, and it is legislated to supplicate with it as an act of worship. Furthermore, reciting the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah every night suffices the servant.
