The Hawamim are seven consecutive surahs that begin with "Ḥā-Mīm," namely: Ghafir, Fussilat, Ash-Shura, Az-Zukhruf, Ad-Dukhan, Al-Jathiyah, and Al-Ahqaf. They are arranged together due to their shared opening with "Ḥā-Mīm," the mention of "the Book" thereafter, their Makkan origin, and their revelation as a single unit. Some of the Salaf disliked calling them "Al-Hawamim" and preferred "Āl Ḥā-Mīm" without clarifying the reason for this dislike.
