Is it permissible to undergo surgery for the cosmetic alteration of the ears due to repeated ridicule concerning their shape, which has led to a poor psychological state?

In His Book, Allah Almighty encouraged contentment with His decree and destiny. A Muslim should neither grieve over what he has missed nor rejoice over what he has received. Among the forms of tribulation is the deprivation of some blessings with which Allah created humankind. This tribulation is from Allah's mercy towards His servants, to increase their reward in the Hereafter. The greater the tribulation, the greater the reward. The prophets, and then the righteous, are the most severely tested among people. The psychological harm resulting from congenital deformities is similar to the physical harm that permits cosmetic surgeries.
