Is it permissible to lend a sum of money to a couple about to get married, knowing that this sum might be used for a wedding ceremony that could contain violations of Islamic law?

The mere possibility that money might be used for disobedience does not prevent lending it to someone who seeks help with marriage. The fundamental principle concerning a Muslim is their integrity. Lending is prohibited only when there is certainty or a strong presumption that the money will be used for an act of disobedience. A loan is an act of piety and an aid in relieving distress. However, if it is highly probable that the borrower will spend it on an act of disobedience, then it ceases to be an act of piety.
