What is the expiation and blood money for hitting a car driving without reflectors in the dark, with neglected brake repair, resulting in a fractured thigh of a woman who died 15 days after the accident?
If the injured person dies due to the accident, then the questioner is liable for the expiation of accidental killing, and the blood money (diyah) is incumbent upon his 'Aqila. However, if the death was due to another cause (such as illness), then the questioner is not liable for anything, and one can refer to the judgment of doctors in this regard. The consequence of the injury is guaranteed, meaning that if the pain and effect of the accident persist on the injured person until she dies, then blood money and expiation become obligatory at that point. The 'Aqila of a man are his male paternal relatives and kinsmen from the father's side.
