Is it permissible for a woman who has purified herself from menstruation for the 'Isha prayer and began the Sunnah prayer before midnight to perform the Night Vigil (Qiyam al-Layl) immediately after the Sunnah prayer, or must she perform a new ablution? And can she perform the Duha prayer with the same ablution if she wakes up late after sunrise?

A woman experiencing metrorrhagia (istihadah) and one who has a continuous impurity (hadath da'im) must perform ablution (wudu') for each prayer time. Scholars have differed on whether her purity (taharah) is invalidated by the expiry of the prayer time or by the entry of the next prayer time. Those who held that her purity is invalidated by the expiry of the time prevented her from performing the Duha prayer and the Eid prayers with the ablution performed for Fajr. Those who held that her purity is invalidated by the entry of the next prayer time permitted this. Some scholars have preferred the view that her purity is not invalidated except by the entry of the next prayer time. This is the opinion of Al-Majd in his commentary, and it is the apparent meaning of Imam Ahmad's words, and it is the more preponderant view. If nothing issues from the woman experiencing metrorrhagia, she is not required to renew her ablution and remains in her initial state of purity.
