There is no harm in spending some time to keep up with news concerning Muslims, but with the caveat of allocating a specific time for it, avoiding wasting time tracking all news, and choosing the appropriate time for it, such as times of boredom and recreation, and not times of remembrance and obedience, as advised by the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas. It is preferable to limit browsing to specific websites to avoid mental distraction and to ensure that time is not wasted.
