Is it permissible to release trained hunting dogs to hunt wild boars and eat them, in order to provide food and money necessary to feed them?
The sale of all dogs is forbidden according to the majority of scholars. It is advisable to avoid selling them to escape scholarly disagreement and to safeguard one's faith. As for keeping dogs for hunting, it is permissible, and there is no harm in letting them hunt and eat pigs, because pork is forbidden to a Muslim just like carrion, and feeding such things to animals is not forbidden. It is permissible to feed carrion to dogs and birds, and impure food to livestock, just as it is permissible to extinguish a fire with wine, to feed carrion to hawks and falcons, to clothe a beast with an impure garment, and to light a lamp with impure oil; because the use of impure things in these cases is considered a form of disposal that entails no harm.
