What is the ruling for someone who suffers from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and flatulence, and takes a long time in the restroom to expel gases, which causes him fatigue and hardship in performing ablution (Wudu') and prayer (Salat)? And is it obligatory for him to go to the restroom before every prayer if he strongly believes the flatulence will stop, or to wait for it to stop after leaving the restroom? And what is the ruling on his prayer and ablution with the continuous emission of flatulence or its temporary cessation? And is what he does during Friday prayer (Salat al-Jumu'ah) valid?

There is no need to enter the restroom to expel gas if it causes harm. If the emission of gas is continuous all the time, and there is no time to pray with proper purification, then the questioner's ruling is that of one afflicted with سلس (incontinence). She should perform ablution after the entry of each prayer's time and pray with that ablution whatever obligatory and supererogatory prayers she wishes. However, if the emission stops for a time sufficient for ablution and prayer, then she should wait for that time, perform ablution, and pray within it. If the emission stops at the time of Friday prayer, then ablution must be repeated to pray with proper purification.
