The meaning of the noble prophetic tradition: "Whoever goes to sleep in a state of purity, an angel spends the night in his innermost garment, and when he awakens, the angel says: 'O Allah, forgive your servant so-and-so, for he went to sleep in a state of purity,'" is that the angel spends the night close to the pure person's body, praying for his forgiveness upon his awakening.
