The question

Why did God prevent the sending of signs to the disbelievers of Quraysh, even though the sin of the previous peoples' denial was not their sin, based on His saying, the Almighty: "And nothing prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them?"

The answer

Allah Almighty did not send the signs proposed by the polytheists out of mercy for them, because He knew that if those signs were sent to them, they would disbelieve in them, and then they would deserve immediate destruction and torment, just as happened to the disbelieving nations of the past. Allah willed to grant them a respite because some of them would believe, or from their descendants would come those who would believe.
