How can a young man deal with his suffering from depression and despair, his intense desire and urgent need to marry, the difficulty of finding a righteous wife, his feeling of lukewarmness in obedience, and his despair of his prayers being answered due to his sins?

You have done well in being diligent in supplication (Du'a) and maintaining prayers. We advise you to remain steadfast and avoid sins, as this will help you overcome distress and depression, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do." Occupy yourself with what benefits you, associate with the righteous, and attend gatherings of knowledge. Do not pay attention to the feeling of not wanting to be steadfast except for the purpose of marriage, as this is a trick of Satan. Do not despair of finding a righteous wife, have a good opinion of your Lord, and seek help from the righteous. Marriage itself is a cause of richness, and whoever undertakes it with the intention of chastity, Allah will help him.
