What is the ruling on praying in the mosque behind an imam who shaves his beard, or is an innovator (mubtadi'), or is openly disobedient (fasiq)?

If the Imam shaves his beard but is knowledgeable of the rules of prayer and recites the Book of Allah the Almighty, then it is permissible to pray behind him if no other Imam is available, especially if he is a regular Imam. He should be advised kindly, and the Sunnah should be explained to him. However, if there is an Imam who adheres to thenah, he has a greater right to lead the prayer, even if the mosque is far away. Prayer behind innovators and transgressors is valid, as long as their innovation is not one that leads to disbelief. They should be advised, and efforts should be made for the Imam to be a follower of the Sunnah, unless this would lead to a greater harm. If someone who adheres to the Sunnah is found, then one should pray with him, even if the location is far, and one should not abandon prayer in the mosque.
