Is it permissible to gather to study the Quran in one of our homes on Friday, knowing that we arrive at the mosque a quarter of an hour before the preacher ascends the pulpit?

Firstly: Gathering to study the Quran on Friday is permissible if it involves one person reciting while the others listen, or if it involves rotational reading. There is no requirement to designate Friday specifically for this. However, collective recitation in one voice is disliked (makrooh).

Secondly: One should hasten to Friday prayer to attain the great reward. The hours (for earning reward by arriving early) begin from sunrise until the Imam arrives. Arriving a quarter of an hour before the sermon is not considered early. It is preferable to change the study session's time to after the prayer to achieve the virtue of arriving early and to study the Quran.
