Is it wrong to urinate during a shower, after pouring soap on the upper body and before washing the lower body, then performing istinja’ and continuing the shower?
It is best for a person to urinate in a place designated for urination, not in the place of ablution (wudu) or ritual bathing (ghusl). However, if one urinates there and then cleans it, there is no harm. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade urinating in the bathing area. For this reason, some scholars disliked urinating in the place of ablution or ritual bathing, and some restricted this dislike to cases where there is no drainage for the urine and water. If one urinates in a flat place, like one that is tarred or tiled, and then washes it with water before performing ghusl there, there is no harm, as the defilement is removed. The same applies to the place of ablution.
