What is the ruling on pregnancy for someone who has reached an advanced age and fears its consequences?

Progeny and offspring are among the greatest objectives of marriage. For this reason, Islam encourages marriage to increase progeny, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Marry the affectionate, the fertile, for I will boast of your numbers before the nations on the Day of Resurrection.” The Prophets prayed for offspring, so pregnancy should not be abandoned. However, it is permissible to regulate pregnancy when there is a need to achieve a benefit.
