What is the ruling on going to a zoo where animals are tortured?

The torture of animals is divided into permissible and forbidden categories. The permissible category includes: branding livestock designated for zakat and jizya, and throwing live fish into fire to be roasted (though some jurists deem this reprehensible), and striking an animal to the extent necessary for its training and taming. As for the forbidden category, it includes: torturing an animal by withholding food and drink from it, using a living creature as a target for shooting, and cutting off the head of a slaughtered animal and skinning it before it cools down and becomes still. Attending the torture of an animal that is forbidden by Sharia is not permissible except for one who intends to denounce it.
