What is the refutation against someone who claims that the opposite of the Hadith: "Whoever introduces into this affair of ours something that does not belong to it, it is rejected," is also true, and that supplicating after prayer with the phrase "Haraman wa Jam'an" (a Haram and a gathering) has a basis?

The approval of the Prophet's command, peace and blessings be upon him, is both general and specific. If a ruling is established by the Sunnah as general or absolute, then its specification or restriction to a particular time, place, condition, or number, in a regular and commendable manner, would be an innovation (bid'ah idafiyyah).

New matters for which there is a general or specific legal proof do not fall within the definition of blameworthy religious innovation. Religious innovation has three conditions: innovation, that this innovation is attributed to the religion, and that this innovation is not based on a specific or general legal principle. With this last condition, new matters related to religion that have a general or specific legal basis are excluded, such as the compilation of the Quran and performing Taraweeh prayer in congregation.

Any innovation for which there is a legal proof confirming its validity and establishment is not considered an innovation in the sight of the Shariah, nor is it an act of bid'ah; for innovation and bid'ah are only applied in the sight of the Shariah to what has no proof.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded adherence to his Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and warned against innovations and new matters, saying: "Indeed, whoever lives long among you will see much disagreement. So, you must adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Hold on to them with your molar teeth. Beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance."
