Is the hijab not required in Islam, and does "khimar" mean only covering the chest, and what is the meaning of "they should draw over themselves from their cloaks"?

The article that claims the Quran did not command the hijab (definition) and that "idna'" (to draw close) means covering the lower part of the feet, originates only from those who lack knowledge. The Companions (Sahaba) referred to the verses of covering as the verses of hijab. Among the verses of hijab are: {O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their outer garments closer over themselves} (Quran 33:59) and {and to draw their headcovers over their bosoms} (Quran 24:31). "Khumur" is the plural of "khimar," which is what covers the head. The female Companions understood this and covered their faces with it. How can it command drawing the headcover over the bosoms and yet permit uncovering the head?! The command to lower the gaze does not mean that covering the body is not obligatory; rather, it is evidence of its obligation, for the one commanded to cover may not comply, or a part of their body may become uncovered.
