Is it permissible to embarrass a person who publicly insults religion, or is there a better way to deal with this situation?

Cursing the religion is major disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam, even if unintentional. The person who curses the religion must be advised and reminded of the gravity of their action. If they do not repent, they are to be treated as an apostate. Their action must be shown hatred, people must be warned against it, and their statement must be denounced. It is not permissible to sit with them when they utter curses against the religion, as Allah Almighty says: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they engage in another conversation. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them. Indeed, Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together." Furthermore, their case must be brought before a judge or they should be threatened with a complaint to civil courts that criminalize cursing religions. If preventing them is not possible, then one must not participate in a gathering where disbelief and cursing the religion are uttered.
