A doctor is not obligated to treat a specific patient unless their treatment by this particular doctor becomes essential due to the unavailability of others. The doctor should be compassionate towards patients and make them feel assured of their diligent care. It is stated in the Constitution of Islamic Medicine that a doctor must continue to provide necessary treatment to a patient in emergency situations until the need for it ceases. They must alleviate the patient's pain using all available material and psychological means, and make the patient feel cared for and reassured.
