Is congregational prayer accepted, and has any Hadith Qudsi been reported regarding its virtue?
For the prayer to be valid, it is required that the body, clothing, and place be pure, that both major and minor ritual impurities be removed, that the time for prayer has begun, that the 'awrah be covered, that one face the Qiblah, that the intention be present at the time of takbirat al-ihram, that all pillars be fulfilled, and that nothing that invalidates the prayer be committed. These conditions apply to both congregational and individual prayers, though congregational prayer is twenty-seven degrees better. If the worshipper fulfills these conditions and pillars and avoids invalidators, then their prayer is valid and hoped to be accepted, and the reward is greater in congregational prayer. Acceptance is a matter of the unseen, and the worshipper must strive to fulfill the conditions, have khushu' (devotion), and maintain presence of heart, for a servant gains nothing from their prayer except what they comprehend from it.
