Is it permissible to inject a cat with a contraceptive to prevent pregnancy if it gives birth frequently?

There is no religious impediment to using an injection or other contraceptives for a cat or other animals if it is for a legitimate benefit or to ward off an unusual harm, just as scholars have explicitly permitted the castration of animals for a benefit. However, if it is merely for amusement, it is not permissible, due to the harm inflicted upon the animal. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed whoever used anything with a soul as a target. There is no impediment to removing it from the house.
