Were there precedents among the fatwas of the Companions, the Tabi'in, and the people of knowledge for all the issues in which Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah stood alone and differed from the four madhhabs?

Imam Ibn Taymiyyah stipulated that he does not contradict scholarly consensus (Ijma'), and that he does not adopt a position unless he has a precedent (salaf) for it. However, some scholars may find him mistaken on certain issues, believing that he erred in some matters and that the consensus on them escaped him. Al-Nu'man al-Alusi, in "Jala' al-Aynayn," attempted to answer the accusations of deviation and contradicting scholarly consensus leveled against him. Similarly, six doctoral dissertations on "The Juristic Choices of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah" discussed the purported unique positions attributed to him and investigated the extent to which others agreed with him.
