Does the noble Hadith: "On the Day of Resurrection, men will come with good deeds like the white mountains of Tihamah, and Allah will turn them into scattered dust, because when they were alone with Allah's prohibitions, they violated them" refer to a person afflicted by a sin but who does not commit it openly among people?

The Hadith narrated by Ibn Majah from Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) on the authority of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) describes people who will come on the Day of Resurrection with tremendous good deeds, like the mountains of Tihamah. However, Allah will render them as scattered dust. These are people who outwardly appear righteous before others, but when they are alone with Allah's prohibitions, they violate them. As for someone who strives to abandon sins and sometimes weakens without persistence [in sinning], it is hoped that they will not fall under this threat.
