How can the hadith, "All of my Ummah are pardoned except al-Mujahirin (those who make their sins public)," be reconciled with the hadith, "I certainly know peoples from my Ummah who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the white mountains of Tihamah, but Allah will make them scattered dust... However, they are a people who, when they are alone with the prohibitions of Allah, violate them"?

The phrase "Do not make Allah the least of those who look at you" is not a hadith, but rather a saying of some of the Salaf (early Muslims), and its meaning is sound. The intention is for the servant to be mindful of his Lord and to know that Allah sees him, so he feels shy before Him and avoids sins. His shyness before Allah should be greater than his shyness before people, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, advised: "Be shy before Allah Almighty as you are shy before a righteous man from your people."
