How can one dispose of items purchased with ill-gotten money, and should they be given away in charity themselves or their monetary value? And if it is their value, should it be the purchase price or the current price?

Whoever buys something with ill-gotten money is not obliged to dispose of this thing, nor to give it away as charity, whether the item itself or its value. There is no harm in using it. However, he must return the ill-gotten money to its owner if the owner is known, or give it away as charity on their behalf if he is unable to return it. If the owner is not known, or he is unable to return it, he should dispose of it by spending it on public interests and charitable causes. Whoever acquires ill-gotten money must sincerely repent and resolve not to return to wrongfully consuming people's wealth.
