Must a mother make up the days of bleeding that lasted fifteen days in Ramadan, knowing that she was fasting and praying during this period?

The jurists differed on whether the blood seen by a woman after the age of fifty is considered menstruation or not. The Hanbalis hold that if blood appears after fifty and up to sixty, and it is consistent with her usual pattern, then it is menstruation, which prohibits prayer and fasting. However, after sixty, it is not menstruation. The Malikis are of the view that blood appearing between fifty and seventy is doubtful, and reference should be made to the opinion of knowledgeable women in this regard. After seventy, it is definitively not considered menstruation. Accordingly, if the bleeding after fifty has the characteristics of menstrual blood, it is considered menstruation, and fasting must be made up. If it does not have the characteristics of menstrual blood and knowledgeable women do not judge it to be menstruation, then it is blood of irregular discharge (istihada) and does not invalidate the fast; however, making up the days is preferable to absolve oneself of responsibility.
