How can one overcome repeatedly falling into sin after repentance, and return to their previous religious commitment?

To get rid of sin, one must eliminate the causes of falling into it, such as a bad environment and bad friends. One should also remember its dire consequences if one dies without repentance. It is also advised to associate with righteous women and to remember that "Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing," because sincere worship illuminates the heart and helps repel the whisperings of Satan. One must initiate sincere repentance and not despair of Allah's mercy, even if the sin is repeated.
