Is it obligatory to make up the day and perform ghusl for one who was overcome by lust between sleep and wakefulness, and began to masturbate, then stopped immediately upon waking without any fluid discharge, and this occurred during the daytime in Ramadan?

If masturbation occurs during sleep and a state of unconsciousness, there is nothing upon the doer. However, if it occurs while awake and conscious, the doer must repent and not return to it. Ghusl (ritual bath) is not obligatory unless semen is discharged, according to the Hadith: "Water is from water." And one's fast is not invalidated by it unless semen is released.
