Imam Al-Shafi'i is one of the greatest Imams of Islam, possessing numerous virtues and merits. The book "Al-Umm" is one of his most important works, yet it does not contain all his sayings and jurisprudence. Al-Shafi'i authored many other books and compilations, as mentioned by Al-Nawawi and Al-Bayhaqi. Therefore, studying this book alone is not sufficient to fully grasp his madhhab. Allah has graced him with Imams who collected and organized his sayings, clarifying the preponderant opinions among them. Hence, these efforts should not be disregarded. To understand the madhhab, you should refer to the concise and organized summaries, such as Al-Nawawi's "Minhaj" or Al-Shirazi's "Al-Muhadhdhab," and examine their commentaries, such as Al-Nawawi's "Al-Majmu'."
