Am I obligated to sell the land I inherited from my parents to fulfill their wish of building a mosque, especially since their intention was to sell it for this purpose, and I wrote on the blueprint that it is an endowment for that? Knowing that a mosque has already been built by a philanthropist on the land my father intended to build on, and the current value of the land is not enough to build a new mosque, is it permissible for me to sell it and buy a house with its value, or must I donate its value to contribute to the building of another mosque?

If the father explicitly dedicates the land as a waqf (endowment), it does not enter the inheritance but is sold, and a mosque is built with its proceeds, in accordance with the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "Donate its essence, and it is not to be sold, gifted, or inherited." However, if he did not actually dedicate it as a waqf, and it was merely an intention to sell it and build a mosque with its proceeds, then it is considered part of the inheritance, and those who inherit it are permitted to dispose of it as they wish, because a waqf is not established by mere intention.
