The question

Is it obligatory to continue advising a colleague who reveals her hair, wears makeup and perfume, and dresses in a manner contrary to Sharia, given that she repeatedly rejects advice, both publicly and privately? And does sin befall the questioner if he ceases to advise her?

The answer

We ask God to reward you for your zeal and your eagerness to advise, enjoin good, and forbid evil, with the recommendation of gentleness in da'wah (calling to Islam). Displaying one's adornment (tabarruj) is a serious matter that God has prohibited and warned against. We advise this sister to fear God and remember death and accountability, for the loser is he who loses his religion. You have done well in advising her, and the most important thing is to continue doing so as long as the advice is beneficial; otherwise, it is better to stop. You should deal with her as a stranger, as sending private messages can be an entry point for Satan.
