Does a person become unchaste if they practice masturbation?

Masturbation is a forbidden act, but practicing it does not deprive one of the description of chastity. For, in Islamic law, a chaste person is one who has not committed adultery. Chastity may also be used by jurists to mean uprightness, and in that case, a perpetrator of major sins would not be considered chaste. However, this is a specific technical term.
