Is it permissible to draw a head, two eyes, a nose, a mouth, hair, and a body, but without the hands and the lower part of the body, for animate beings?

There is no harm in drawing images of animate beings if they are missing something without which life is impossible, such as being headless, or chestless, or having a perforated abdomen. However, removing legs or hands and the like is not sufficient to render the image permissible, because life can exist without them. The Malikis, Hanbalis, and Shafi’is held that if an image is missing a limb without which the animal cannot live, then it is not forbidden.
