What is the ruling on downloading computer games, programs, and cartoon movies from the website, and is it permissible to download the Holy Quran from other websites and then provide it on the website without the permission of its owners?

Uploading films and TV series to a website for download is forbidden and a grave sin, as it involves spreading and promoting indecencies and transgressions. One must repent to Allah for this, based on His (the Almighty’s) saying: "But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and makes amends, Allah will indeed accept his repentance. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful." As for programs and games, there is no harm in them if they are free from شرعي prohibitions, such as music, images of unveiled women, and gambling. Transforming the website into an Islamic one is a righteous deed and a great good. There is no harm in downloading the Qur'an from other websites and placing it on the site, provided the source is acknowledged.
