What is the wisdom behind adopting the jurisprudential schools of thought instead of directly engaging with the authentic Prophetic hadiths?

The people of knowledge are indispensable for understanding the texts of the Quran and Sunnah. Scholars are beacons by which one is guided in comprehending these texts and deriving rulings from them. They understand which rulings have been abrogated and the implications of non-explicit texts. Therefore, a student of knowledge should receive knowledge from a teacher and not rely directly on books. They should first gain a deep understanding of one of the madhhabs without fanaticism, should its divergence from evidence become apparent.
