What is the direction of the deceased's head in relation to the Imam during the funeral prayer?

The Shafi'is hold that the Imam stands at the head of a deceased male and at the middle of a deceased female. He positions the head of the male to his left and the head of the female to his right. As for the Malikis, they do not differentiate between male and female; rather, they place the heads of both to the Imam's right.
