Is it permissible to have orthodontic treatment done by a male dentist if a female dentist is unavailable except at very exorbitant prices, and there is no seclusion?

A woman should avoid treatment by male doctors as much as she can. There is no harm in paying an extra amount of money if that is in exchange for a woman preserving herself from the gaze of strangers, provided the increase is not excessive. As for orthodontic treatment to create gaps between teeth (taflīj) or to change Allah's creation, it is not permissible, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "May Allah curse the women who do tattoos and those for whom tattoos are done, and the women who pluck eyebrows and those for whom eyebrows are plucked, and the women who create gaps between their teeth for beauty, changing Allah's creation."
