Is it permissible for a female dentist to examine and treat men in the absence of a compelling necessity?

A woman working as a dentist is permissible, provided that she is safe from unlawful mixing (ikhtilat) with non-mahram men and avoids ostentatious display (tabarruj). Allah Almighty says: "And do not display yourselves as [was] the display of the former times of ignorance" (Quran 33:33). She must also avoid softening her speech, as Allah Almighty says: "Then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate words" (Quran 33:32). Her treating men is not permissible unless there is no man available who can perform that treatment. Al-Bujairimi said: "It is stipulated that there is no man who can undertake that [treatment] for a man."
