Did Abraham (peace be upon him) marry Hagar or was she his bondswoman? And did Sarah ask him to marry her? And did Sarah resent her? And why did Abraham go with Hagar and their son Ishmael to the Arabian Peninsula; was that related to Sarah's jealousy or to a divine command?

Hagar, Ishmael's mother, was a handmaiden to Sarah. Sarah gifted her to Abraham after she despaired of having a child, so Hagar became his possession. When she gave birth to Ishmael, Sarah became jealous. Allah commanded Abraham to take Hagar and Ishmael to Mecca. Abraham supplicated to his Lord to grant him a righteous son, and Ishmael was bestowed upon him. Afterwards, Sarah was given the glad tidings of Isaac and then Jacob. Abraham praised Allah for bestowing upon him Ishmael and Isaac in his old age.
