What does the crescent and star symbol represent to Muslims?

Adopting the crescent moon or stars as a symbol for Muslims has no basis in Islamic law. It emerged after the era of the Prophet and the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and it is believed to have been adopted by Muslims after the conquests. These symbols are not an emblem for Muslims, even if some have adopted them. Muslims believe that the moon and stars are creations of Allah and do not inherently cause harm or benefit. Rather, Allah created them for the benefit of humanity.
