What is the ruling on eating food served at illegitimate weddings?

The fundamental principle regarding eating from this food is permissibility, unless it is something Allah has forbidden. However, what is forbidden is the very attendance itself, if it involves elements that are legally impermissible and a person cannot change them. This is because such presence entails an affirmation of the wrongdoers in their wrongdoing and an acceptance of evil as evil.
